5 - FALL SEMESTER BEGINS

 13 - MTNA-WARNER BROTHERS COMPOSITION CONTEST - STATE LEVEL
2:00 p.m.CDT Deadline for submission of composition and application ONLINE ONLY at www.mtna.org



OCTOBER:

22 - MMTL WEEKEND CONCERT SERIES - (Sunday) 3:00 p.m. - Location: TBA

30 – Nov. 3 - GROUP LESSON WEEK – Students should be prepared to perform one solo piece which is "in progress" and play at least the beginning of their new original compositions.

 

NOVEMBER:

 20 – 24 - THANKSGIVING BREAK - NO LESSONS

 

 DECEMBER:

4 – 8  - GROUP LESSON WEEK - in preparation for Christmas performances at local assisted-living facilities.

8, 9, and 10 - CHRISTMAS RECITALS at Maumelle assisted-living facilities - details TBA

10 - MMTL WEEKEND CONCERT SERIES (Sunday) - 3:00 p.m. – Location TBA

19 – Jan. 1 (Tuesday 19 through Monday 1st) - WINTER/CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY - NO LESSONS

 

JANUARY:

15 - NFMC JUNIOR COMPOSERS CONTEST   Entry Deadline

29 - Feb. 2 - GROUP LESSON WEEK - Students must be prepared to perform from memory their 2 Jr. Festival pieces.

 

FEBRUARY:


3 -
NFMC JUNIOR FESTIVAL at First United Methodist Church NORTH LITTLE ROCK (6701 JFK Blvd.)  Students will play their 2 memorized pieces for a judge only at a designated time between 9 a.m. and noon.

18 - MMTL WEEKEND CONCERT SERIES - (Sunday) 3:00 p.m. – Location TBA

MARCH:

3 – UALR PIANO FESTIVAL – Fine Arts Building – Events include performance, ensemble, jazz, original composition, etc.

19 - 23SPRING BREAK - NO LESSONS

26 - 30  GROUP WEEK (HOLY WEEK)

APRIL:

7 - ASMTA Region III Festival 9:00 a.m. to approximately noon at Hendrix College in Conway   Students compete in performance and test in  written theory, technique, ear training, and sight reading

TBA - JUNIOR DAY - event of AR Federation of Music Clubs - honors AR Jr. Composer winners and performers who have earned consecutive superiors in Jr. Festivals.  Location TBA

TBA – UCA PIANO FESTIVAL – University of Central AR in Conway

 30 – May 4 - GROUP LESSON WEEK (Performance classes in preparation for our Celebration of Creativity Recital this Saturday!)   POSTERS inspired by one of Mr. Gerou’s pieces should be brought to this group class.  They may be created in any medium on full-sized poster board.  The title of the piece and student's name should be on the front of the poster. Posters provide decoration for our autograph party/luncheon.

 

MAY:

5 - CELEBRATION OF CREATIVITY RECITAL with our adopted composer, Tom Gerou.
10:00 a.m. to approximately noon at Winfield United Methodist Church - 20100 Cantrell in Little Rock
Includes student recital of Mr.Gerou's music and students' original compositions at 10:00 a.m. and a shorter (30 minute or so) presentation by our composer for us.  This will be followed by a luncheon-autograph party in the church's fellowship area so all students and parents may have the chance to personally meet Mr. Gerou. He will autograph the students' music at that time.

5 - MTACA HONORS RECITAL - 3:00 p.m. - UALR Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in Fine Arts Building

14 - 18 - PARENT CONFERENCE WEEK - 30 minute parent/teacher conference in lieu of private lessons

28 – June 1 – GROUP LESSON WEEK – Presentation of awards earned across the year.  Students should come prepared to perform their completed original compositions for the group.

 

JUNE:

2 – ASMTA (Arkansas State Music Teachers Association) conference and performance competition.  Students who were performance winners at the Region III Festival on April 7 will compete.  State winners in the MTNA-Warner Brothers Composition Contest will perform on the 1:30 Winners Recital.
Location:  ASU in Jonesboro

JUNE 4 - 8 - END OF SEMESTER BREAK - NO LESSONS

JUNE: 11 – SUMMER SESSION BEGINS
